On behalf of the Midland (MI) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., welcome and thank you for visiting our website. A private, non-profit organization, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 young women at Howard University whose dream was to create an organization of college educated women bound by sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action. Today our international sorority has over 350,000 predominately Black college educated women, and over 1,000 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan, Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Republic of Korea, Canada, West Africa and Saudi Arabia.
The Midland Alumnae Chapter (MAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on March 17, 1984, by 12 dynamic and courageous women committed to community service and driven by the same vision and purpose as the 22 Founders of our beloved Sorority. The charter group consisted of women who were attorneys, social workers, educators, counselors, scientists, and entrepreneurs. We came together as sisters and continue the legacy today. It is an honor to serve as president of this exceptional chapter!
Throughout the years, our youth have been a major focus for the chapter, and we’ve sponsored programs for both males and females that helped them grow educationally, personally, and socially as well as build community awareness and civic engagement. In addition, annual scholarships have been awarded to graduating high school seniors who reside in Midland County.
As the chapter enters 40 years of distinguished service to the Midland community, I invite you to join us as we move “Onward from 40, Forward with Fortitude”. We are planning an epic 40th anniversary celebration March 15-17, 2024! We look forward to seeing you there.
